Solicitation

A significant amount of my time is spent getting this girlto eat.

Bria really is a good eater. She loves fruits and vegetables more than any other food, and would probably trade any of her possessions for a tomato, olive, or piece of black licorice. She might even trade me in for a piece of black licorice. But then there's lunch. I hate lunch. I think it's the trickiest meal of the day. Bria hasn't yet mastered utensils, and she doesn't like sandwiches, yogurt, or applesauce. What am I supposed to feed this girl?

The solicitation for advice is now open.

  1. I don't think I have any advice--I just had to say that that is the most adorable thing I've seen in weeks. What a great girl! :)

  2. Courtney, you have probably tried all my ideas. For lunch we do leftovers a lot. Pasta (big noodles like rotini that are easy to pick up) with veggies in it. Crackers, cheese cubes, pieces of ham on a plate. Quesedillas (with cheese and pureed white beans or chopped up chicken). She will eat sandwiches but to avoid her pulling apart the bread and spreading peanut butter all over I usually have to cut them into bite size pieces. Good luck. I totally understand what you are going through.

  3. I'm a fan of quesadillas, chicken nuggets, hot dogs... but knowing Bria's tastes she'd probably prefer tika masala or maybe something like potato gnocchi. I think she has a very unique palate.

We miss you guys. Please come back soon. :)

  5. Good call, Erica! Bria does love black beans, but I think I forgot about them! Maybe I'll try her on some other kinds of beans too.

Also, Heidi, thanks for your ideas. I really like the idea of putting beans in her quesadilla. She rarely goes for those, but maybe the beans would help interest her.

  6. maren loves beans too. you could try kidney beans...they have a sort of sweetness to them. and cheese and beans together make a complete protein! if she likes apples, you could try putting peanut butter on little pieces...to make it more of a meal than just plain apples. kids are tricky.
