So Not Posh

I think this happened around the same time last year, but I hit a culinary wall. I don't feel like cooking or baking anything. We've been eating a lot of quesadillas and pasta with marinara. One of our go-to easy meals lately has been an amazingly simple burrito.

Is it sad that this is what my food blogging has been reduced to? Meh. Whatever.

If you have only five minutes to feed the hungry people surrounding you, here is the solution:
A bunch of leftover brown rice (found languishing in your fridge)
A heap of cheese
1 can black beans
1 minced garlic clove (or a small spoon of garlic paste, for increased simplicity)
Chili powder
Cumin
Salt
Pepper

Mix it all together and toss it in a tortilla. Roll it up and heat each side in the pan on medium heat until it's hot, gooey, and crispy. Adding some avocado on top makes it even more heavenly.

Strawberry Shortcake saves the day

It's always this time of year when I think about T.S. Eliot. I mean, seriously, T.S.-- you think April is the cruelest month? I love April. Let's talk about January and February. Gag. I hate these months. They are cruel and boring and awful.

Um. I've been a little bored lately.

My house is (relatively) clean. My to-do list is entirely in control. And it's too cold to spend any time outside.

I've been looking for random jobs on Craigslist (this is what I do when I'm bored). And there was a posting for hair technicians, but you don't need experience, working on former childcare workers, and you get paid $20/hour. What? Something tells me I would show up for an interview and leave with one less kidney.

Something that always brightens my day, however, is a Netflix description of one of Bria's favorite movies: Strawberry Shortcake: Sky's the Limit. Just read this little gem:

Strawberry Shortcake engages her entrepreneurial spirit and opens a sweet Berry Café to booming business in the heart of Berry Bitty City -- until the town's endangered water supply threatens to dry up her business and devastate the region.

Can't you just imagine some poor, bored soul sitting in a Netflix office, being so bored describing movie after movie that he decides to describe Strawberry Shortcake like some drama or action movie? I love it.

drool.

I need these shoes.

I also need everything else featured in this post. (Is it ok to talk about things I need-- er, want-- so soon after Christmas?)
